Contact us

Ultrasonic sensors (detecting empty space) are an advanced technological solution that helps optimize smart parking management, reduce congestion and enhance user experience. The implementation of this system enables drivers to easily find parking spots and is an important part of effectively managing and operating parking lots, creating convenience and safety.

What are ultrasonic sensors (detecting empty space)?

Ultrasonic sensors (detecting empty space) are high-tech devices that identify whether a parking space is available or occupied by emitting ultrasonic waves and measuring the distance from the sensor to an object. When a vehicle is parked, this distance changes and the sensor sends a signal to the parking management system to update the status of the available spaces in real-time. By integrating with control devices such as LED indicator boards and parking management software, ultrasonic sensors create a smart, convenient and efficient parking system. The ultrasonic sensors detecting empty space automate the management and operation processes of parking lots, optimize space, reduce search time for drivers and enhance user experience.

Structure and operating principle of ultrasonic sensors (detecting empty space)

A system of ultrasonic sensors (detecting empty space) includes the following main components:

  • Ultrasonic transmitter: this device continuously emits ultrasonic waves at a high frequency, which cannot be heard by the human ear. The ultrasonic waves travel through space and reflect when encountering obstacles, thus detecting whether a vehicle is parked or not.
  • Ultrasonic receiver: when the reflected waves return, the receiver captures the signal and measures the time interval between transmission and reception to calculate the distance.
  • Signal processor: this component processes the collected data and determines the status of the parking space (empty or occupied). If a vehicle is detected, the system sends updated information to the LED board or control software.
  • Status indicator lights: some sensors are equipped with LED indicator lights (green for empty, red for occupied) to help drivers easily identify available spots.
  • Connection module: this component transmits data to the central system, allowing integration with parking management platforms. Managers can remotely monitor the status of the parking lot through the software system.

When the ultrasonic sensor system is installed at parking spots, it continuously scans the surface of the parking area to determine the status of each spot. When there is no vehicle, the ultrasonic waves transmit down to the ground surface and reflect back, indicating that the spot is still available. When a vehicle is present, the ultrasonic waves reflect from the vehicle body with a shorter distance, signaling that the parking space has been used. This information is sent to the parking management system or updated on the LED indicator board, helping drivers quickly find available spots. If integrated with an automatic barrier system, the sensors can assist in controlling entry and exit, determining the number of vehicles in the lot and optimizing operations.
